We are looking to go on holiday next year. We will have a 2.5 year old and a 7 month old.

We don't know anything about Majorca but it ticks the boxes in terms of travel time.

We would like to go self catered, however i don't want a villa as I like the atmosphere of being able to grab an afternoon drink/ice cream at the pool bar etc.

Ideally looking for a complex with tiny little villas (don't know what they are called but have seen them!)

If you have any recommendations (good or bad) please send them my way!... Walking distance to a harbour/beach with restaurants and shops would be lovely too!

Not exactly what you're looking for as it's apartments but we're staying at the Inturotel Esmeralda Garden in Cala D'Or next month. Otherwise I think it covers most of your wish list. DD is 3.5 and DS will be 9 months.

Menorca has lots of complexes like that. I've been to both menorca and Majorca and think majorca is wonderful. However with children that young Menorca would be perfect.

I can't recommend a specific hotel as no DCs but I love Cala D'or as a resort.

Puerto pollensa. There are loads of apartments on the pine walk and the beach is perfect. There is a lovely boardwalk and the beach is full of children same age as yours. We stayed in an apartment just behind the beach with a deli bar and cafe.

We stayed at the Zafiro Aparthotel C’an Picafort & it was fab. So much going on for kids. We self catered but are planning all inclusive next time as it was actually quite expensive to buy our own food or eat out

Can’ Picafort, Port de Pollensa or Port d’Alcudia are great areas, Pollensa doesn’t have a really sandy beach, so we liked it for a day out but preferred the other two locations.

We went the first time when DD was just under 2, lovely island, lots to do if you want a day out and easy to have a hire car as well.

We stayed in a self catering apartment in a hotel near Pollensa
perfect mix - we ate what we wanted from the supermarket over the road
but the pool and the bar were downstairs if we wanted !

We stayed in a Thomson hotel cala bona when dc were 15 months and 3 ish. It was a lovely holiday with most of your wishlist although it was an apartment block rather than villa. No beach at cala bona (ds was terrified of sand at that age) but plenty nearby and a lovely harbour in walking distance. We hired a car and visited a castle iirc. It was the Bonaire and there are loads of mn threads about it Grin though its not one of their family ones now but a platinum or something. Thomson the dog mini disco is still fondly remembered 3 years later.

If you want to hire a car, go to Costa de los Pinos. It's beautiful. There is a fabulous hotel called Hipotels Eurotel Punta Rotja. The rooms have self-catering facilities (I don't know if it's all rooms so check when booking) with fridge, freezer compartment, microwave, sink, etc. I'd stop off at a Carrefour or other supermarket on your drive from the airport.

As well as the hotel restaurants, there is an inexpensive and very pleasant pizzeria just opposite the hotel, and a little ice-cream/sweet/beachy shop, plus a great "chiringuito" (café on the sand selling coffees, drinks, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, etc.) a short walk to the next beach along to the west, plus loads of places a short drive away.

The hotel has a private beach and a gorgeous big outdoor pool with areas for kids and little ones.

You can also drive to other beaches, lovely towns and villages, caves, etc.

Puerto Pollensa would meet your requirements. Villaconcha or Flora would be potential accommodation options as both offer self catering with pool, bar etc.

Puerto Azul is very family friendly but half board only.

There are actually 2 beaches. One is next to the Pine walk and is a set of smaller dandy areas and the other is larger with a more extensive area of sand. Plenty of nice family friendly restaurants and it’s s lovely chilled place to go on holiday.

I first took DD when she was 7 months old. She’s now 10 and PP is her happy place.
