Eurostar advice

Recently snapped up a cheap Eurostar day trip to Paris on impulse and am now regretting it because I can't think of how we'll manage it. We live about 1.5 hours out of London by car but we never drive to London because the train is quicker and easier. However the Eurostar departure time from London is before we'd be able to get there from where we live, and the arrival time at night is past when the last train for home leaves.

Not having taken the Eurostar before, what do most people do if taking it and they don't live in London? Leave the car somewhere in London for the day? DH is going to hate the thought of driving in to London but I can't see how it'll work otherwise!

How early is the Eurostar?
Which direction are you coming from?
There is a car park at St Pancras, but no idea how expensive it is. But I dropped off DH there early one morning and the traffic was fine.
Or drive to an underground station with a car park. Edgware has one attached to a Sainsbury's.
Or taxi, lift or hotel the night before?

Can you stay at the local Ibis the nights before and after? They have a car park you could use as well.

Leave the car somewhere like Hounslow and get the tube in.
