Going at the end of August and just wondering what’s worth doing/what’s not and general tips please!

I haven't been but from what I've heard the restaurants aren't that great so maybe take plenty of food with you. Also there is no air con in the lodges so maybe take a fan.

Ha, sadly, i always plan for crap food at places like CP. Which is a shame because how hard is it to do decent, basic food??

I guess there may be some nice places to eat if you go out of CP into the local area. Might be worth googling the best restaurants nearby, which is what we did when we stayed at CP in Belgium.

Have you stayed at a European CP before? They all seem to have just a hob to cook on but no actual oven so best plan food that can be easily cooked or heated up on the hob. Think you also get a microwave that doubles as a grill.

No never been to a European one before. Oh dear, is everything a bit basic and shit - no air con, no oven, no decent food??!

They don't have air con in the UK lodges either to be fair. I think some people have been struggling with it a bit due to the recent heatwave.

I can't speak for the French parks as never been to one but I wouldn't say the Belgian ones I have visited were shit, however the accommodation was a little more basic than the UK parks. I imagine Villages Nature will be fine though as it is brand new. I found it easier to escape outside of CP itself in the European parks so maybe try some of the local French restaurants if you fancy a meal out rather than rely on those in the park.
As for the lack of oven - I didn't find this a problem as I went prepared and planned food that you could cook on the hob. Just don't plan jacket potatoes and pizza!

Thank you. Yes, not so worried about the oven as hob food is easy enough.
Anyone used it as a base for Disney? What’s the shuttle service from CP like?

We went for the day during a recent Disney trip.
Pool was great for swimmers. Everything else was a bit shit, there were slugs everywhere, the shuttle buses didn’t bother turning up, the cafe was mediocre and the stark scenery/boxy accommodation made it look a bit like a concentration camp. Sad

TittyGolightly · 09/08/2018 21:25

It’s not near anywhere. You’d need to travel out to find other restaurants etc.

Badtasteflump · 09/08/2018 23:10

Well I went recently and I loved it! My only negative would be that it wasn't very 'green', but only because it's so new none of the greenery has grown much yet! The pools were amazing, the restaurants were decent, and there was also a very reasonably priced & well stocked supermarket on site. You'll have a great time op!

Chocwocdoodah · 10/08/2018 07:40

Thanks Badtaste!
Concentration camp? Um, thanks Titty.....I’m really excited now...Shock

Sorry. Just how it felt. Might just have been the weather. It was quite stark in June and with rainy weather and grey skies it felt pretty bleak.

Chocwocdoodah · 10/08/2018 08:22

That’s ok, you were just being honest!

We had a great time! We stayed at Disney and then came to village nature for a centre Parcs break so didn't use the shuttle.
Our lodge was nice and new and we had a terrace overlooking the lake. We loved the indoor playground and the outdoor one too. They also had lots of small playgrounds dotted around. The swimming pool was great too, lovely and clean.
We have been to Dutch cp and the food was definitley better here. Especially the bakery which I thought was really good. The pizza and pasta place had decent enough food but the food offering service was a bit shambolic.
I would agree with bad taste flump that my only real issue was that due to being new it wasn't that foresty.
I would really recommend, I'm sure you will have a great time!

Food ordering*

Chocwocdoodah · 10/08/2018 10:48

Thanks Firenze, that’s made me much more optimistic Smile
