I'm travelling (mix of work and holiday) with two DC to Washington and New York from this coming saturday. Is anyone there that can tell me what's the weather like? I' assuming hot and humid but how unbearable? Thanks!!

If it is like it is now, it will be very hot and humid - more so in DC than NY. The long term forecasts are pretty accurate in the US. Anywhere inside will be airconditioned so hotels/offices/restaurants you may need a cardigan or jacket.

Thanks! Any tips re. what to see or do in this weather? Its our first time in both cities but we aren't fussed about doing lots. We'd rather skip crowded places or places where you have to queue

You're going to the wrong places if you don't want crowds or queues!

Weather, Google is your friend. It's in the thirties and it's humid. Fair bit of storms too.

What to do, look on TripAdvisor. Did you not think about any of this when you booked?

I was in Washington last week and it was hot and sticky. Loads of free museums, I love the air and space museum. All the memorials to peruse around the National Mall. Fascinates me, I'm going again next weekend! Georgetown is lovely in the evenings. A duck tour is always fun too.

The trip is really paid for by work (for me and my husband) so we didn't really pick de dates. I'll have a look at Tripadvisor. I'll research small, quirky museums and galleries, see what I find. Off to google.

I was in New York and Washington last month and the heat wasn't as restrictive as I'd expected. The Smithsonian museums in Washington were fabulous - especially the air and space museum and the museum of American history. There was a short queue to go through security to get in, but inside they're both so big that it didn't feel too crowded. I'd also recommend a tour if the Capitol building - book a time slot online so you don't have to wait about.

Take the hop on hop off bus tour in DC stsy on the bus for the circuit then see where you want to get off .you can see where queues are. Take an umbrella for afternoon rain storms.
