Hello everyone

Can someone recommend a nice hotel in Mauritius?

We're looking for somewhere calm and peaceful for a romantic holiday, with easy access to the beach.

We're not into hotel entertainment and would rather be somewhere without loud music in the evenings.

Thank you

Astroea Beach. It has a larger sister hotel next door whose facilities you can use, bit is itself quite small and quiet. It's on kuoni's website if you want to have a look.

Make sure you factor in the weather for the time of year.

East coast is very windy in UK summer.

Depends on your budget but the Beachcomber hotels are all fabulous. We honeymooned at the Trou aux Biches one and it was amazing.

Royal Palm or St Geran are both lovely. They're quite big though.
TripAdvisor has a very active Mauritius forum.

We stayed in two earlier this year (one on each side of the island). We both definitely preferred The Residence in Belle Mare but Sugar Beach near Flic En Flac was also pretty good.

We have stayed at Zilwa and the sister hotel Ravenella. We had a great time. Be aware that both hotels are well known for their good kids clubs (DD made lots of friends and they all just nipped in and out of the kids club). If you can avoid French/Irish/UK/Indian and S Africa school holidays I am sure they have a quieter vibe.

The "Attitude" hotels tend to be quite reasonably priced.

It was 8 years ago and I think it's changed since we went, but we stayed at paradise cove on the north coast. Was lovey and had private cove/beach.

Sorry for late reply, we stayed at the Tamassa Resort at Bel Ombre first two weeks of August. Its down South about 45 mins from airport. It was amazing, good food, loads of free watersports and bike tours on its own beach. Its quiet and surrounded by sugarcane fields, loads of places to visit if you want to explore. The spa was great and reasonably priced.
