Going to Mallorca soon. Staying in the centre for a week and a couple of days in palma too with dh and 2 kids. I know what type of things there are to do but was hoping for specific places. We like beaches, sightseeing, walking but prob too hot for much walking! We will also do the train that goes through the mountains to Soller. Thanks in advance!

One of the must see places in Palma is the grand Gothic cathedral and the surrounding area. Directly in the shadows of the cathedral are two small playgrounds. There are plenty of pedestrianised areas in this part of the city so kids can roam whilst parents stroll and take in the atmosphere. A favourite spot is the Parc del Mar (complete with large playground) which is beneath the cathedral and across from the seafront. Also popular with families are the old style horse and carriages which set off from outside the cathedral to take tours around Palma.
Another area to spend some time in and around is the Es Balaurd Museum. Even if you don’t step inside the museum (which is worth visiting and children love walking around the roof ramparts) the main spacious terrace complete with sculptures, a beautiful café and restaurant has lovely views across the bay of Palma. Just across the way is the large children’s playground at Parque de la Feixina. This is also close to the Santa Catalina area of Palma where you can find nice relaxed independent cafes and restaurants for a bite to eat.
Palma Aquarium is excellent. Apart from the usual, they also have Mediterranean gardens and a tropical jungle on their roof – the largest roof garden in Spain. The showstopper here is their enormous shark tank. The aquarium also organises special activities for children – games, face painting, water fights on the pirate ship – or they can help feed the turtles, rays and Koi fish.
While you're in Palma, try to visit Bellver Castle. Kids absolutely love running through the tunnels and secret staircases that lead to and from the various levels. There are also lookout towers that have the most amazing views of the Bay of Palma. There’s also a cafe on site if you’re feeling a little peckish and thirsty.

Thanks very much ricekrispie. That's exactly the kind if info I was after. Sounds like more than enough to keep us entertained for the two days we are there. Smile does anyone have any other central mallorca recommendations please?

If you have a car I highly recommend visiting Valldemossa. You must visit Real Cartuja, the Carthusian Monastery where Chopin once spent a winter. Deya is lovely as well.

If you get the train to Soller, you can also go on the wooden tram to Port de Soller which has a lovely beach. In fact for future reference it is a lovely place to base yourselves. You can get the public bus to Deya from there. A lot of tourists head out for hill walks.
