Vienna in early December - places to see/eat

We have a week in Vienna in early December - what are your favourite things to do. places to go, restaurants, cafes, maybe slightly off the general tourist trail?

We like wandering/mooching about , museums, galleries, people watching, eating out (on a tight budget), food markets.

We loved Burg.ring1. A funky eating and drinking place on the ring. Near the Apollo cinema, which shows English films. In English.

The kuntshistorische is amazing. I was really looking forward to seeing the beautiful Secession Building, but was disappointed by the poor surrounding it's set in.
We enjoyed going on the big wheel. Nearby is an area where an architect remodelled some blocks of flats into colourful abstract designs. Sorry, can't remember the name but the area is in all the guide books.
Lastly, dress up warm. It's freezing.
