The Storybarn in Calderstones Park - definitely go for one of the interactive sessions thestorybarn.org.uk
Mattel Play - just amazing. And allow at least double the amount of time that you think it will take you, not because it's slow or there are too many people, but because there is so much and your son will want to do everything at least once!
Musuem of Liverpool - a fascinating museum with a bit of everything. There are a couple of children's trails around the museum. The Little Liverpool gallery is a hands-on fantasy world especially for children under the age of six. Inside the gallery kids can create their own Liverpool - a city where they are in charge. One of my favourite parts is the water play section where children can sail boats, run dinky cars through the tunnels and fish for pretend marine creatures and rubbish. Entry is by a free ticket, which can be collected from the Welcome Desk on the day of your visit. Elsewhere round the museum there are lots of interactive exhibits.
Imagine That - fun science experiments, water play, construction zone, sand pit, role play village arts and crafts, dressing up.... not to be missed! www.imaginethat.org.uk
