Lovely hotel before baby arrives

We’re expecting our first child later this year. We’ve both been really busy at work and coupled with a tough first trimester, I’m keen to get away for a few nights to relax (I hear the third trimester is also tough!).

Does anyone have any wonderful hotel recommendations? We both stay in a lot of hotels, often for work. And a modern, sterile 5 hotel isn’t what we’re looking for. I’d like it to be luxurious, but to have a bit of character and not look like every other hotel ever. Would be good to have nice touches, like Espa toiletries etc, and ideally a nice spa. We’re also not super rich so nowhere that charges £500 a night!

Looking for places in England, Wales or elsewhere in Europe!

Thank you very much!

Bovey Castle in Devon is meant to be very nice. I have never been but have friends who have and who would recommend it for a special occasion or treat. Or Bedruthan Steps in Cornwall.

The Victoria Inn at Holkham in Norfolk. There's no spa but it's got lots of character and there's a huge beach across the road and through the pine trees.

Lovely idea OP some I could recommend are Alexander House & Utopia spa, Turners Hill, West Sussex. Sometimes deals available online. The Grand hotel Brighton, just been refurbished right in the seafront, they have a spa for treatments, but no pool. Iconic hotel with lots of history. Celtic Manor Resort near Newport, Gwent. Lovely pool and spa. St David’s hotel and spa in Cardiff Bay Area is also very nice and near the millennium stadium. Penny hill spa in Surrey or Great fosters, at Egham, Surrey very historic hotel. Enjoy.
