Anyone been? Any tips in general for Cyprus - secret beaches or places to go?? Hoping to do a bit of a mix of pool and a few day trips.

A friend said it was the best holiday she ever had. I looked at it but it was too expensive for me.

Kourion beach is nice. There are ruins of the amphitheatre there too. There are 3 restaurants there, go to the one on the far end. I think its called Blue something. We go for breakfast or lunch and have a swim in the sea.

What kind of thing are you looking to do?

If you want to get away from the heat, heading up into the Troodos mountains is a nice day out and its cooler up there.

The Avakas gorge is nice for a walk too and while you are in the gorge itself, you are sheltered from the sun.

In Pissouri, the Steakhouse by Michael is fabulous. I had lots of great meals last tiem we were there but that place was amazing.

It's really nice. We went 5 years ago but a friend of mine goes every year. It's quite self contained but you're only 10-15 mins drive from Paphos. Nice and breezy there too.

Nothing too strenuous! DH likes history stuff so it's kind of to appease him as he's not so keen on pool side lounging.

There are lots of castles etc around. Tomb of the kings was good too but on a sunny day it can be very very hot!

where are you planning on staying, at the sensatori there? i went on my honeymoon 2 years ago and it was my best holiday ever 😊

WipsGlitter · 24/07/2018 12:51

No, we staying in the villas - the self catering suits us better with the kids.

Yes, I've stayed there twice in villas. The best beach we found was on the north coast at Latsi (or Latchi - they use both spellings). The beaches in the south were disappointing and kind of gravelly. We had some excellent days out and food in Omodos and Kakopetria in the mountains. The archaeological park in Paphos is nice (but I wouldn't go in summer - too hot - we were there in Oct both times). For shopping I recommend the supermarket in Pissouri - it's surprisingly well stocked. We loved Aphrodite Hills!

Thanks @juneau it looks really nice so I'm really excited.

Just to come me back to this. We had a good time but the villa was really disappointing. We booked a package so we're allocated a villa and it was really basic with cheap furniture and crap air con. The garden was a wreck as well.

The resort itself is nice but if you're thinking of it I'd book through owners direct or similar so you can see exactly what villa you're getting.
