Ibiza Es Canar June weekend break with the girls

SmellyNelly2018 · 19/07/2018 09:38

Hello I/we have booked a well earned long weekend break in Es Canar in Ibiza next summer just the girls. Well when I say girls we are a small mixed group late 40’s early 50’s 😂
Any recommendations for nice bars and restaurants tapas, traditional Spanish etc please.
I don’t think we will be clubbing more like chatting, laughing, relaxing, watching the sunset, drinking and maybe dancing. Any suggestions of any suitable suggestions for our age group?
Also is this resort right for us although it’s a bit late asking this now as it’s booked now.
Any other tips on where to go where to avoid.
Thanks

Ibiza is small enough that if you do want to go to other towns, it would only take about 20/30mins in a taxi.

DH and I were in Santa Eulalia in June and it was gorgeous (just down from Es Cana) you can get the ferry around the island and there is also a ferry over to formentera for a day out.

I would definitely recommend one of the many Hippy markets, particularly the night time ones, they have live music or djs, food & drink and lots of stalls to wander round.

We also went to San Antonio for 1 night to do the sunset at Cafe del Mar. The food isn't great there, but it's a lovely spot to spend a few hours with lots of cocktails watching the sun go down and people watching as the clobbers head out.

We loved it and we aren't clubbing people at all

Bambuddah restaurant is interesting.

I quite like Santa Gertrudis which is inland.

Es Cana is a major resort but the kids head to San Antonio. Beach is nice.

You must go to Ibiza Town at night, and visit the Old town. Lots of bars, tapas places & great for people watching. Pacha is across the harbour if you do want to go clubbing.

Thanks so far all keep the recommendations coming please. I think we are too old for clubbing.

I’d get a cab to San Antonio & watch the sunset at Cafe Mambo & you get the having been out vibe without hitting clubs. Should you change your mind Es Paradis & Eden are nearby. I obviously had a different experience to other posters about Cafe Del Mar. I had the squid & it was amazing. Lovely vibe about the place & great to people watch & look at the sunset.
You’ll have a fab time Grin

The food at Bambuddha was lovely, it's super chilled but in the middle of nowhere.

STK in Ibiza town was delicious, they also have performers on during your meal (acrobatics, musicians, etc) there were lots of groups here when we visited.

There is a beautiful little restaurant in the old part of Ibiza town (within the castle walls) called El Portalon. The staff were lovely, food was unbelievable and the setting was like something from a film.

We also did Nikki Beach for a day. We booked a day bed which you can book with a champagne brunch. I thought it would just be full of TOWIE type stick thin models, but it was a real mix of people (including a few families) and great fun. Definitely worth doing!

I was in Es Cana a month ago. Charlie's bar, Jacaranda Lounge both OK for a few drinks. Decent seafood restaurant on the side street upfrom there, can't recall the name. Apache bar is English run and seems nice. Granny's Fun Pub (interesting name) advertises sports, karaoke etc. Can't give you my personal experience as I was there with 5yo DD.
I'd say there was enough for a couple of nights entertainment but you'll probably want to look further afield some nights.

You can get boat taxis everywhere. You could go into San Antonio or San Antonio bay.

I highly recommend a visit to Ibiza old town (Eivissa) it's beautiful.

We had a great time in Ibiza (all early 50's!). There are so many little coves and each has its own chilled out bar with great music. We didn't want to go clubbing but you do get caught up in the atmosphere. We ended up going to an 80's night at the Hard Rock Hotel, which was fabulous and also did Pacha for the experience which was expensive but great fun! As previous posters have said, there are lots of beach clubs that you pay to go in and use the pool, bar etc. some of these are very luxurious - we went to the Blue Marlin, again, just for the experience. Maybe hire card as it's a fairly small island and you can see a lot more that way.

The 80’s night is our era and sounds right up our street. Is the hotel it’s at far from Es Canar? Also do you have to book it in advance? We are only there 3 nights so probably won’t hire a car.
Love the idea of champagne brunch and day bed.

Smelly, you are an inspiration, I’ve been looking at flights for Ibiza. Only been 20 times Grin

Aw that’s a nice thing to say soap.
I have only been to Ibiza once many many years ago when young and daft for a drunken week in SA it was very hot and a bit well a lot of a drunken haze.
Hoping this time I will still have fun and alcohol but will remember more about the island 😂
Although early 50’s i’m still not quite ready for SAGA or Viking cruises yet (my crazy friends are the same so I am sure we’ll have a ball).
