Family and friends railcard

Can I use it for a return journey when DD will only be on the return leg?

Picking her up so she won't be on the outward leg but it's much cheaper to get a return for both of us with the card than to get a standard return for me and a single for her.

Is it bending the rules a bit or will I get fined!

If you buy the tickets in advance of the travel date, you will have a ticket each; you just give DD her ticket when you meet her. If you buy tickets in advance they are often cheaper anyway than buying on the day.

No you can’t. You have to be travelling with the child to get the discount. You might get away with it: depends on the ticket inspector.

You have to have he child with you. Get an adult one way for you and then a one way adult and child with the card for you both on the way back.

You have to have a child with you to get the discount. Can you take another child with you both ways? May be cheaper to pay for 2 children than singles?

Thanks for the replies.
Anything that works out slightly more sadly.

Can always offer to take a friend's preschooler for a day trip? Yes, under 5s are free on the train, but you can choose to pay for one to get the discount I am pretty sure! Depends on length of trip whether this idea is viable though!

The lady at the ticket office sorted it, I had a normal ticket and my DD had a child return for £2 ( valid when travelling with adult on network rail) sorted!
