We're looking at going to Marrakesh in October. I've been before pre baby but am now looking for somewhere to stay with my five year old. I'd like somewhere in the souk for a few nights and then somewhere a bit quieter with a pool, but ideally not a huge resort. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We stayed at the Riad Dar El Aila in the Medina 3 years ago for 3 nights. It’s in the Medina & was very authentic, clean & we thought gorgeous & had great TripAdvisor reviews. Just looked on TripAdvisor just now as had forgotten how to spell it & looks like they’ve had/having building work done which has put a few people off - if that’s finished though, it was fab! We spent the rest of the time at the Eden Andalou on an AI basis - it’s medium sized with a water park. It’s a mid range hotel so not the Ritz but was fine for chilling out after 3 full on days in Marrakech! In retrospect, Marrakech would have been better without the DD as I seemed to spend a lot of time piling out of the way of traffic walking round the old town. She also got heat stroke & was freaked out by the snake charmers. Overall, we had a good time but you’ve been there and will know it’s a pretty mad place!
