Beach resort with individual chalets

Hi

We're holidaying towards the end of August, and I'm looking for a beach resort for my wife and 5yr old.
I'm not keen on hotels and would prefer a chalet or bungalow.

Can anyone recommend a child-friendly beach resort in Europe that has detached chalets/bungalows, but that has enough going on to stay entertained?

Martinhal Sagres in Portugal would be perfect, but it's so popular that I doubt it will be available.
