Orlando - Blizzard beach or typhoon lagoon?

For those who have been - which of these two water parks would you recommend? We don’t have enough time to do both.

Depends on ages of DC.
I'm not a thrill seeker and much preferred Typhoon Lagoon with its wave machine and a decent lazy river. My then teenagers loved Blizzard Beach but not every day.

QuitMoaning · 16/07/2018 11:14

I went with young teens and we all preferred Blizzard Beach.
The wave pool in typhoon lagoon is epic though.

ConstanceVigilance · 16/07/2018 11:15

Having fond memories of both as a child, but remembering blizzard beach as better, I went to both again last year. I much preferred Typhoon Lagoon to my surprise! I think you can't go wrong with either, but unless you really love very tall slides and want a free colonic irrigation then I would probably choose Typhoon Lagoon.

It depends on the age of your dc (if you have them) I think as blizzard beach possibly has more to do for a wider age range (including a better pre teen area). Some people don't like the snow theming but we loved the ski lifts.

If you want shade then you really have to be there for opening in either park. We took a cool box and went to publix before hand and had deli sandwiches made up which made a change from theme park food.

We went to both and had the best days, it's a nice break from park busy'ness

Sorry should have said we have 3 dc. Age 6 (height of average 8 year old, thrill seeker) age 10 (hates rides/ would go in a lazy river never a scary slide) and 15 (thrill seeker). So trying to please all.

In your case go for typhoon lagoon for sure. Enjoy!

Nquartz · 16/07/2018 14:38

Typhoon lagoon for the big waves! The kid's area is great, there's a new family raft ride suitable for all ages & big slides for the thrill seekers.

llangennith · 16/07/2018 17:25

Given the ages of your DC definitely Typhoon Lagoon. There are strict height reductions on all the scary slides at Blizzard Beach and the death slides are the main attraction. Not suitable for under 12s imo.

happymummy12345 · 16/07/2018 17:28

We went to typhoon lagoon. The lazy river is brilliant. And the pool with the waves. That's from someone who can't swim at all and who hates water parks full stop.

Soubriquet · 16/07/2018 17:29

Typhoon lagoon for sure

You got the massive wave for the thrill seekers and the swimming with sharks

Then the lazy river for the younger ones

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 16/07/2018 17:32

Another vote for Typhoon Lagoon, even just for the lazy river in the sun!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 16/07/2018 17:33

Another vote for typhoon lagoon

ilovewine · 16/07/2018 17:35

We are just back and for us it's Volcano Bay all the way! Sorry to add confusion Blush

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 16/07/2018 17:43

It wasnt open when we were there

But its part of universal so i think we will deffo go there when we go next year as i dont think the children are as fussed about Disney

I bloody am!

ilovewine · 16/07/2018 22:54

Honestly Rufus it's outstanding. We all loved it and I hate water parks lol Smile

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 16/07/2018 22:55

Oh that's definitely good to know ilove

I dont think they want to bother with typhoon or blizzard next year...which is a shame as i quite like the lazing by the pool bit

ilovewine · 16/07/2018 23:02

Rufus VB has a beach and sun loungers and wine Wineso you get to chill too, you'll love it Smile it has virtual queues for the rides too which was fab so you aren't queuing in the blistering sun!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 16/07/2018 23:14

Oh awesome!

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 17/07/2018 18:36

VB was very new and having lots of problems when we visited last year so we gave it a miss but are going to give it a go this year after 6pm so hopefully it will be less busy.

Angrybird345 · 18/07/2018 07:12

Definitely typhoon lagoon, without a doubt.

ihatethecold · 18/07/2018 07:15

Typhoon lagoon without a doubt.

Juanbablo · 20/07/2018 16:49

Typhoon Lagoon. my kids loved the wave pool.

PoptartPoptart · 21/07/2018 08:53

Sorry to confuse matters even more but have a look at Aquatica water park.
It was by far the best out of BB, TY and VB.
It has a beach area with wave pool and loads of fantastic slides. It has the famous ‘floor drop’ slide (not for the faint hearted!) plus lots of tamer, family slides.
It also has two lazy rivers, one is the usual, serene type but the other is a fast, rapid style lazy river. My kids spent hours going round that one!
There were loads of sun beds and lots of shade and it was way less crowded than the other water parks with much shorter queues.
