Handbag sizes on planes

Flying with BA tomorrow and my handbag appears to be exceeding the size limits as per info on website.

Does anyone know if they're strict about the measurements of handbags. I know they are on cases (I am putting one case in the hold) but wasn't sure if they make a fuss over handbags.

If needed I'll take a different one but this one is v practical and never leaves my side :-)

I regularly take a MASSIVE one - essentially a beach bag - on BA and vile Ryanair.

Never a problem.

My experience is that as long as it fits under the seat in front of you then it will be fine. They won’t let you take a second bag if it needs to go in the overhead locker.
