Wales for a few days?

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a nice place to go in Wales with 2 kids under 7? We are in Ireland and thinking of taking the ferry. Have looked online but confused as to where to pick, what areas are nice, a chalet or mobile home with 2 bedrooms would be ideal. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

taking the ferry with a car? or relying on public transport?

In to Holyhead (in the North) or Fishguard (further South) ?
Both near beautiful parts of the world, so no point in traveling from one end to the other Smile

Apologies, ferry with car, into Holyhead thanks!

Ferry from Dublin to Holyhead for holiday in N Wales
Anglesey is a lovely island to explore, lots for kids to do and many gorgeous beaches
Or travel down the Llyn Peninsula to Abersoch ( although this can get v busy in Summer)
Shell Island has a gorgeous camp site
Pwhhelli is a popular holiday spot
Loads of super places in Snowdonia to explore...I've lived here for 23 yrs and love it here
Avoid Rhyl and Prestatyn nowadays

OK a lovely place not too far from Holyhead then...

How about Fairbourne /Barmouth - lovely beaches and estuary and a mini train that children love...

or if you don't want such a long drive - somewhere round Beaumaris?

Naughty1205 · 13/07/2018 16:51

Thanks everyone for those suggestions and taking the time to reply. I'll be looking into them as soon as kids in bed!

The Conwy area is lovely and has lots to do.
Zipworld Fforest has the Fforest Coaster and Treetop Nets which 3+ can do with a participating adult. It's really close to Conwy Valley Railway Museum which is brilliant with little kids! Lots of model railways with buttons to press, a ride on miniature railway and a self-drive tram for children.
Rhyl SeaQuarium is a nice west weather activity.
Knightley's Fun Park is worth going to.
Conwy Castle is great with kids. There's a kids trail, interactive displays and no snooty tours!
Great Orme aerial cable car is fun and I also recommend the Welsh Mountain Zoo.
This is a nice little place to spend an hour or two. www.conwywatergardens.co.uk

Pembrokeshire Is beautiful. Lovely beaches. There’s a theme park not too far away called Oakwood. But the beaches, harbours and walks will keep you busy.

Thanks so much for all the help! Lots to look up later when it's quiet here. Much appreciated.
