Excursions with Caribbean cruises

We are first timers and looking at booking a Caribbean cruise for Christmas. Just wondered about excursions (as we are clueless)! Which ones have you done? Any amazing and not to be missed? Also any that didn’t live up to your expectations? Thanks

Have a look at Cruise Critic website, go to the Boards, Ports of Call, Caribbean. Lots of suggestions there.
Which islands are you visiting?

Ok, thanks. Eastern Caribbean.

It depends what you enjoy. We have done a number of Caribbean cruises, sometimes we do an organised excursion but often we just get a taxi to the beach.

The taxi drivers are brilliant in the Caribbean. You agree where you want to go and when you want picking up and they will be there when you’re ready to leave. You can even pay them at the end of the return journey. Do use them if you can, they know their island and will look after you.

If you list the islands you’re visiting, someone may have some ideas for you.

We have done Carribean at Christmas too - it was our third cruise and we were feeling braver to use the local transport as suggested above. For us it worked out brilliantly and we had the most amazing Christmas Eve sailing around St Lucia in what ended up our own private speedboat. Obviously there are more guarantees with organised excursions but would echo the poster above that the taxis/boats waiting at ports were reliable. Have a wonderful time!

(sorry to butt in )We are also doing a short Caribbean cruise in February (only 5 nights) would welcome any tips for Nassau/Labadee... I think my DD (16) would like to do the zip wire but not sure whether its best to book (with cruise) or do it ourselves...

Thank you I realized it was owned by RC I just didnt put my brain in gear that the zipline could not be booked separably. The price is about the same has Zipworld in the UK...but I will book it online - thanks again.
