I have only been for a couple of days on a stopover a fw years ago but found it a weird city geographically - no centre as such and no one shopping centre, just mall after mall. I understand there are a lot of shops underground (because of the summer heat) but we never worked out where they were! If you're into food the huge farmer's market is worth a visit - 10 mins walk from 'downtown'. Which district are you staying in / how will you get around?

Post your question on the Fodors travel discussions forum www.fodors.com/forums/ As long as it isn't nightime in the States when you post your question, you will be literally inundated with suggestions within a couple of hours! Also you can search under the Texas threads for 'Dallas shops' or 'Dallas with young children'. I'm sure you would get back heaps of info. Have a great trip.
