Upgrading on American Airlines?

MIL has accidentally booked flights for our trip to NY from LDN in economy. Anyone know if these can be upgraded to business once already paid and confirmed?

You need to call the airline and ask. It will depend on the airline, the type of ticket purchased, etc nobody can answer this online

I thought as much It'll have to wait until DH gets home next week then.
