Hand luggage

We have been offered free accommodation in France in Sept. We can just about afford to go if we only take hand luggage. DD will be 5 months old. Can it be done? She is breast fed. DD cannot take hand luggage so I was thinking me and DP take minimal clothes (and wash there) and use one bag for our stuff and DP can have my bag with her clothes and essentials. We are going with fly be. This will be our first flight. Am I mad?

If you have access to a washing machine I'd think it could be done easily.

You are not mad, no, it's a great idea! As long as you don't overpack you can easily take enough for the three of you as hand luggage, a few years ago we 'invested' in some cabin max rucksacks. The ones suitable for ryanair are 44litres - this is loads (the flybe dimensions are slightly less, but not much). Go for it.

Most airlines allow a bought airside bag onto plane plus a handbag size bag. This would allow you to take 2 bags plus bought from boots airside of baby type stuff plus suncream etc. Watch out if it's easyJet though they don't allow extra bags.
Gives you slightly more luggage. If you're in boots buy a meal deal for plane food on board is really expensive 3 euro for a small bottle of water for example.
