Have we any hope of a holiday abroad (or if not in UK) for 3 of us with £1000?

This is pathetic but dd is nearly 5 and we've never got enough money together to take her on a holiday. This year we've saved up £1000 and were thinking of finding a cottage in the Uk somewhere, but she's so desperate to go on a plane that I can't help dreaming we might manage somewhere for this kind of money. Is it a totally foolish dream?

We would need to go within the school holidays unfortunately.

And if it is do you have any tips for a good UK holiday?

Thanks portonovo, this is all useful information! In the year before dd was born dp and i stayed in St. Just which was not far from Penzance, we went there by bus a couple of times. I remember it well!

sorry haven;t read whole thred, just your initial question. could you keep the money until january & book for next year at the end of may half term? Easy jet flights for summer comeout in november (i think) we booked for 4 of us to go to majorca. We booked flights just after xmas for the four of us, left on the thurs before school broke up & came back a week later. flights cost about £550 for 4 of us. Then look on trip advisor or holiday truths websites for hotels. we had a billiant one (Viva tropic) in Alcudia with loads of entertainment & that cost about £350. Taxi to & from airport would be about £100 (we hired a car for £150), so that's under £1000 (just!) but your flights would be less as there's only 3 of you

my mum's telegraph on Saturday had loads of overseas holidays for under £100, apparently a glut between now and when the school hols start.
