Day trip to London with 18 month old: what's there to do?

We've been thinking about spending a day in London this weekend with dd (18 month old). Are there any fun things to do for her age or should we just do what we think is fun and drag her along?

Ideas please! TIA

The Princess Diana Playground in Kensington Gardens, if the weather is nice ...

The zoo, the Aquarium, the playground in St James' Park, the Rainforest Cafe.

Thanks! What's the rainforest cafe?

It's a kids' themed restaurant on Shaftesbury Avenue - www.rainforestcafe.co.uk. The cafe in St James's Park is really nice and there are ducks, geese and swans in the lake as well as the playground.

South Bank is also good - playground and carousel near the London Eye, branch of Giraffe for lunch, wooden animals to play on for free at Gabriel's Wharf and various events on. Organised events are probably too much for an 18 month old but this weekend alone there's a family day at the Design Museum, a family treasure hunt at Borough Market, a pirate fun day at the Golden Hind, family drawing day at the Unicorn Theatre and 4 day family arts festival at Tate Modern. Bloody hell, I live nearby - the place is going to be mobbed!

Thanks mumemma, so many suggestions! How lucky of you to live near by!

tugamommy - I never get off my arse to do any of these things - looked them up earlier and was amazed how much is going on. Hope you have a good time!

Ooh I'd love to take dd (couple of months younger than yours) to the Aquarium, esp after seeing hub2dee's pics on here a few weeks ago. It's just by the Eye too, so you could go on that as well if it's a clear day.

The London Eye ?
Tower of London ?

Actually for a small kid Covent Garden buskers are great fun, and for pocket change.
