We are planning to stop in this area on our way down south. Ideally on the way down we want to stop off at Giverny - had thought of staying in Rouen but is this a long schlep back (from the map it looks as though we will be going back on ourselves).

Any recommendations for family friendly hotels in this are?

We stayed in the Novotel Rouen sud a few years ago and it was fantastic. Just off motorway near the uni and conference centres so facilities nearby if you need them., A lovely wood across the road for a nice morning walk. The hotel ahs a lovely retauarant, pool kids play area, woodland walk, indoor play area with lego, playstations etc right next to the bar. They were very good with the kids - special kids meals (special cups and toys with dinner) and all in all it was a really nce place!! Would stay there again if we needed to break a journey.

This one was recommended to me on a previous thread - it's near Rouen

This hotel looks OK. It is a Logis de France hotel and they are usually quite good but are all very individual.

Puddle, I owe you a mail anyway but I can recommend a superb place in Neufchatel-en-Bray, about 30 mins NE of Rouen and just off the A28 motorway (we have done the same run as you'll be doing of course!)
Les Airelles, town centre, they have a quadruple room and are a specifically child-friendly Logis de France member. Dinner and breakfast both ace, nice people, proper child menu. Very highly recommended!
And there is a rather nice looking art and sculpture maze a few miles away that the hotel promotes. (We didn't have time alas).
