Barcelona or Lisbon?

Planning to take DH away for a long weekend for his birthday. I've not been to either city but have heard good things about both. What would you recommend? I'm after good food and some good touristy things to do.

I've been to both multiple times and loved them both (sorry!) 😂😂. However, I think I'd say Lisbon..........

What I would say is that I found the people of Lisbon to be warm, friendly and welcoming, much more so than those of Barcelona. Lisbon's a smaller city too so easier to navigate.

Prices are way cheaper in Lisbon too, we (me and three friends) feasted like queens for the four days we were there and found the food and particularly the wine to be really reasonable.

There are fab areas of Lisbon to visit, particularly Alfama which is so picturesque and you have the option of going to Sintra for the day which is a stunning hilltop village with magical architecture. We also went to a Fado night (traditional Portuguese music and song) and had a wonderful evening.

Hoping to take DH to Lisbon next year as I know he'll love it as much as me!

We didn't actually, we stayed in an Airbnb apartment which was fantastic-only about 10 mins walk to the main nightlife area with lots of bars and restaurants.
Have a look at the different areas/neighbourhoods to see which you think is best and then go from there! 😁👍🏼

I've been to both but not recently to Barcelona. Barcelona has some fabulous art galleries. Very touristy in Barcelona. I think the sights in Lisbon are lovely. Personally I prefer Lisbon.

Interesting, Lisbon seems to be winning by a wide margin!

I think the people of Barcelona are pretty fed up of the extent of the tourism there.

I love both but I think Lisbon has the edge.
