Lufthansa airlines e-mail system

I'm booked to fly to Munich on Thursday with Lufthansa. I haven't flown with them since 1993, it was very different then. I received an e-mail from the company to confirm my booking, unfortunately I appear to have deleted the e-mail (don't know how as I try to be careful when deleting old e-mails) - luckily I remember the Ref no! There appears no way to check in or manage your booking without the ref no. I am concerned as I have not received an e-mail nearer the departure date as other airlines I've flown with have!
Can anybody confirm, will I get an e-mail prior to 'remind' me to check-in? Or would I have lost everything had I not memorised the ref no?

Ring them- they are great. I book for a group of schoolkids, and noticed that for some reason, despite money having been taken, no confirmation email had ever arrived- they gave it me over the phone.

I don't think you do get any further correspondence from them iirc- you can only check in the day before, so just give them a quick call now to get your ref back. You can also check in at the airport anyway, I think, it's not like Ryanair where they charge you eleventy million pound if you forget to check in online.

You will get an email 23 hours before departure when online checkin opens with a link to do that directly. You can use your booking reference and surname, credit card no and surname or miles and more no and surname to check in.
If you call or email them they will send you the booking confirmation again but they always send the check in mail anyway.
I live in Germany and fly regularly with them customer service is great!

I never actually got an email from them 23 hours before onward flight departure! But I checked-in successfully as I knew the reference number off by heart. It was a straightforward process!

And the service offered by the staff was second to none. I will definitely use Lufthansa again!

Thanks for your reassurance that a phone call would have been sufficient to get my reference number - that eased my worry!
