3-4 days mid December. What would you do?

I'm looking for ideas of somewhere to go for a few days mid December with 2 DD aged 12 and 8.
UK or Europe; doesn't have to be "Christmassy". Last year we went to Portsmouth and enjoyed that; a few years ago we did a Santa Lapland trip which we really enjoyed but I don't want to do again (partly because it was very ££!!) although that sort of snowy activity holiday would be good.
What would you do?

Efteling theme park in Holland is magical at any time of year but especially in December. It used to be considered a park for younger children, but recently it has been working hard on attracting older children and adults. It hasn't lost any of its charm though. If possible, I'd combine it with a trip to Amsterdam. It's really family friendly and the famous light show is on all through December. One of the best things to do during the light festival is a canal cruise after dark.

Prague or Berlin - both have Christmas markets, and Prague might have a good chance of snow too. Berlin zoo is excellent, and shouldn't be too busy.

Thanks
