Luggage for road trip advice please!

I wondered if I could ask what sort of luggage people use when they travel with their car please? Do you still use suitcases, or is there some other snazzy storage solution to maximise car space (our cases have 4 wheels which is fab for airports but wastes a lot of boot space!). We are a family of 4 and are looking forward to being able to take more with us as we'll have the car for a change (beach toys, badminton set, board games, wind break and so on). Interested to know what others have found that works! Thanks

My trusty rucksack has travelled all over the world on foot, planes, trains, buses, cars. If you have a car, just fill it with what you need. Anything that you forget, you can buy !

When we go to france for the summer we use those massive checked laundry bags - you can squeeze them around each other and they take no space up when we've unpacked.

Thank you! I did wonder about those checked bags. Where sells them?? They would certainly be more adaptable than a suitcase.

Has anyone used packing cubes? Or plastic crates?
