Calling Southampton area mums - can anyone recommend a good place to eat...

with a 6 yo and a 2 yo? We could play it safe and do the obvious chain places Pizza Hut, Brewers Fayre), but would rather not. Any ideas please - doesn't have to be central So'ton ?

Might be a bit far out but the Osbourne View at Hill Head (nr. Fareham) has a massive garden which opens directly on to the beach and does lovely food and wine!

Seconding the Osbourne View. Lovely pub and fab food, but lots of stairs to be negotiated if you go to the garden through the pub. Not easy with a pushchair, but you can access it from the beach.

Re Osborne View - Thanks LucyLu and Tutu. We took your advice and went there. We had a lovely meal, very child friendly place and the kids loved the beach afterwards. Was just the ticket!
