A day to kill near faro

Our return flights this year leave faro in the evening and we have to leave our villa at 10 am. We have an 8&5 yo and wondered if anyone has any suggestions of where to spend the last day?

Thought about zoo marine but we will go there at some point earlier in the holiday and don't know if it will leave the kids too exhausted for the journey home.

Any and all ideas welcome. We'll be spending the majority of the holiday near sagres end of the algarve.

There is a water park near the airport. We often do this on our last day as you can shower before getting on the plane.

Train to Tavira? It's pretty!

Faro itself is a nice little town. You can get a boat out to the Isla Deserta - a desert island with a nice cafe and stunning beaches.
