Trying to think of places to go for days out in the hols, and my mum suggested we try the castle park in Tamworth, but I have a few questions.

Is the park the grounds of the castle or is that a seperate bit ??

Someone mentioned a ship type play thing for the kids, is that free or is that only if you pay to go in the castle ??

Is it generally a nice place for the kids to run around and us have a picnic ?

Hi, i used to live in Tamworth. The park is seperate to the castle, it's just that the castle sits in the park grounds, so you don't have to pay at all. The ship you're referring to is in the newly built wooden play area which is fab! They have a sandpit, big ship climbing frame, swing rope, and the usual swings, seesaws etc. It does get very busy though. The grounds are a lovely place to sit and have a picnic in summer, although with it being in the town centre (not the nicest shopping area) it's not huge, but surprisingly relaxing and pretty considering it's location iykwim.
