Give us more info, how long, where to, length of flight, whose going with you etc etc.

macmama73 · 21/05/2007 21:41

Depends on where you are going, if you are breast or bottle feeding...

If you can, I would try to buy at least nappies and wipes when you get there. Depending on the country, you can also buy formula etc there too.

Have you booked already?

i'll be watching this thread with interst. I'm taking ds on a 2 week holiday to Cyprus in August. He will be 11 months old.

Do you need the bottles? Can you go without them for the week? Worth a try if poss. Weaning- my friend went to Majorca last year and paid £50 on top of her hol and got a baby pack- steam steriliser, monitor etc not sure what else but ask your travel agent. Or, just feed mostly fresh fruit? Or, a load of jars? If you are planning to spend most of your days on the beach or by the pool you will not need to put the baby in nappies, so if you do take them remember how things will be different so don't take a ton! If you are going to a resort there will be a supermarket, rememebr people have babies that live there too! If you have a microwave you could buy those Lindam sterilising bags. For pots you could buy Avent Via cups, they are ready sterilised in the packet.

bramblina · 21/05/2007 22:00

Or you could take the sterilising tablets, they're dead cheap and sterilise a load of water but smell quite strong!

sep1712 · 21/05/2007 22:05

cheers for you advice.
I thought i could use steri tabs in a tub for bottles and dishes maybe what do you think i'v never used them as breast fed exel with other 2. Shes losing lots of weight so needs bot as were going for 2 wks.
DS not in nappies in day so not to bad.
Just don't know how many clothes to take?

OP posts:
sep1712 · 21/05/2007 22:06

she's our first girl we have gone mad on the frilly dresses and can't leave them at home!

Sterilising: You can buy steriliser bags that go in the microwave (if you have one in the appt). They weigh next to nothing and are easy to use. have a look at this

Nappies: I would take enough for the first couple of days then get a pack when you get there.

You should be able to get most products for weaning, maybe not the exact same but similar. Would take enough for the first couple of days though, so you are not panicking about finding a supermarket.

sep1712 · 21/05/2007 22:16

thanks 1 have never seen these bags,
Bit of a virgin to steralizing!

OP posts:
macmama73 · 21/05/2007 22:23

I wouldn't use them for every day but they were handy for holidays.

amidaiwish · 21/05/2007 23:06

there's some useful stuff on here

  • steriliser bags
  • chair harness in a bag

you'll be able to get nappies/wipes etc in menorca, Dodot is the same as Pampers, just a different brand name. Huggies are everywhere in Spain.

most of the formulas in spain are from nestle, so best to bring a tub of your own / ready made cartons.

bramblina · 21/05/2007 23:34

I found some Milton strilising wipes in a chemist, I used them for wiping over toys etc when we were out that ds dropped and would put back in his mouth. Maybe these would work for her cutlery etc?

REIDmylips · 22/05/2007 08:41

bump.
