Mainland Spain at Christmas. Weather?

Looking for a cheapish family break at Christmas. Initially we were looking at the canaries but a family friend has told us her in laws do either Costa del sol or Benidorm every year at Christmas and the weather is always really nice, sit on the beach type weather.

A quick google seems this may be a slightly exaggerated claim Grin but if true would certainly work out cheaper for us and shorter flight time. So any other experiences to help us make up our mind?

It's really not a winter sun destination but is appealing to older people who go for long periods because the climate is milder than the UK. You could have a cold wet week.
It may be sunny and mild but if you want to be sure of guaranteed beach weather in December the Canaries is the nearest option.

Thank you, that's pretty much what I thought. She has shown me some photos and will it does generally look nice and bright I do want guaranteed sun.

Back to looking at the canaries I think! Smile

We had a warm Christmas with PILs near Malaga one year, then we went mid-December and there were floods. It's not reliable.
