I’m after hotel suggestions to take my lovely mum to London for the weekend in September. It’s been a shocking year for the pair of us, and lord knows, she deserves a treat

So I’ve googled and I’m still clueless. Looking for something that feels special, is modern yet luxurious. Budget is about £600 for the pair of us for 2 nights. Looking to go in September

All suggestions greatfully received!

Is that your hotel budget or for food and activities as well?

Royal horse guards is a guoman hotel. Overlooks river and London eye, excellent transport links and can walk to other places, lovely breakfast.

How about the Charlotte Street Hotel? Nice area, lots of great restaurants nearby

i always recommend superbreaks for London....go have a look on there. They also are really rubbish at disguising their secret bargain hotels if you look at those first, then double check for the area and compare hotel info you can easily find out what you are booking.

lots of two for one offers if you are going by train too...check out the days out guide website for those.

If you can stretch to any of these hotels, they are all luxurious, modern and in great locations

The Henrietta Hotel is beautiful and very conveniently centrally located

If you want somewhere indulgent and decadent. add some out of the box thinking. For 600. Book two Eurostar tickets.a cute hotel in Paris and go have a mum & Daughter weekend away? :)

Thank you all for the ideas so far.

Teenytiny, no that is hotel budget only. Extra cash aside for other things/dinner etc

I second Charlotte Street Hotel - lovely and central too! Saw Judi Dench having afternoon tea in there.

Guoman Tower hotel by tower bridge is lovely. Pay extra and get a bridge view room. Amazing to wake up to that! Lovely breakfast as well.

I couldn't recommend the Chelsea Bridge Apartments enough! And with that huge budget you could probably get the penthouse as well! They're such beautifully modern, clean apartments. Located in Battersea, which is just slightly south of west London, tube station just along the road, I've stayed there twice and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in London now. Smile.

Aanniilleess · 06/08/2018 23:15

@Restlessinthenorth oh sorry OP, just saw you said 'hotel'. I recommend an apartment. Not sure if that's an option?

'The Mondrian Hotel on the south bank is a great 'design' hotel (was the old Sea Containers building) good for walks along the very lively South Bank, not too far from Borough Market, Flatiron Sq, Tate Modern. A real treat.

Tartyflette · 06/08/2018 23:31

And they seem to have some special offers for Sept. You could get a 'double double ' ( two double beds ) and possibly a river view for your budget.
