Foodie pub halfway between London and Dorset - do you know one?

We (me, dh, dds - both under 5) want to meet some friends of ours in a pub that does excellent food, roughly halfway between London and Dorset. Any recommendations? It should be not far from the A303 or M3 at a pinch.

I have looked on the net but would appreciate a mumsnet recommendation!

there is one in stockbridge (hants)... not been there but it gets good reviews. will look...
