Dubai - what to pack?

Hi everyone. I'm being sent out to Dubai with work next week (all very last minute!). I've never been to that part of the world, does anybody have any tips on things to pack. Am already panicking about what is appropriate clothing out there.
Thanks in advance!

Well, it’s hot and it’s Ramadan, do cover your shoulders and knees in public, but a bikini is fine by the pool/beach. You won’t be able to drink or eat in daylight hours outside designated areas in food courts or restaurants. Everywhere has aircon, so take a throw or a cardi. You’re more likely to be too cold than too hot as you won’t be spending much time inside.

Thanks Agent, I appreciate it. Can I get away with long sleeved loose tops and black leggings or should I be wearing loose clothes on the bottom too? I don't want to risk offending!

Loose tops and leggings are fine. You’ll see people dressed in anything and everything so don’t worry too much.

Agree take a cardigan or pashmina, AC is set to maximum and can feel freezing!

You don't need to wear long sleeves. some sleeve is good, but normal short sleeve tops are fine. I probably wouldn't wear leggings simply because I think you will be far too hot. Much better to wear natural materials - cotton or linen that will let the breeze blow through!!
You'll be in air con most of the time, but I always wore natural fabrics and skirts - never wear a skirt in the UK, but found them cooler in Dubai.
Dubai isn't Saudi, you don't need to cover, just be sensible and respectful -not too much cleavage etc. Wear what you like if you get chance to go to the pool/beach.
It will be getting up to 40C now so you won't want to spend much time outside anyway.

Oh and take only sandals for footwear. Never wore closed in shoes for all the years I lived there. When I came back here and looked at my normal shoes all the soles had perished!
