Hi, i am looking for somewhere to visit during the December holidays which is not too cold! But also not longhaul. Where can we go? Would Marrakesh be a good idea?

I've heard Marrakesh is nice.
Where are you flying from and what type of holiday?

We are in the east Mids. So could do east midlands, Birmingham, could even do London and Manchester if the price was right.

Dh, 2 kids, DS1 9 and DS2 7 and me. I would love a beach/watersports type holiday but I don't think I'm going to get that in December!

Open to any type of holiday really. I looked at this company called iexplore that did a adventure type holiday which looked great but £££

Maybe look at Lanzarote? The temperature doesn't chance much throughout the year. I went in November and it was around 23 degrees. It's still warm-ish at night, just a little breezy.

The flights is only 3hrs and you can get them really cheap.
Apartments and villas can be a little pricey but if you do your research you can find a good deal.
They have watersports but nothing crazy like you'd find in Spain- although they do have a submarine tour which is amazing and I'm sure you DCs will love as I did! And you can visit the inside of a volcano.
The only downside is everything is really spread out on the island but car hire is pretty cheap.

Nope that helps

Dubai without a doubt.

Cape Verde.

It’s absolutely beautiful, so relaxing and the weather will be lovely. There’s not a lot to do there so everything is mainly hotel based.

We went scuba diving in Lanzarote last December and it was warm and sunny 6 days out of 7, but we might have been lucky. Flights were very very cheap - £30 each return, but that was without any extras at all. Luggage, allocated seats etc obviously cost extra if you want them.

Quite a lof of other stuff to do in case of not perfect weather like caves and volcano, boat trip to Fuerteventura, or snorkel over the sculpture museum. Flight is over 4 hours, not 3 from Manchester.

You can drive from one end of Lanzarote to the other in an hour so nothing is that far away. I would probably stay in Playa Blanca. Lots of 2 bed bungalow complexes that are good value.

Cape Verde probably more reliable weather-wise, but little to do outside resorts and I think the sea can be quite rough, so maybe not suitable for DCs?
