passport (and tickets) in married name but credit cards in maiden name - will I have problems going to US next month?

I haven't gotten round to updating bank details and cards etc yet and I just remembered that US immigration make you fill out all sorts of info about where you will be staying etc and at the moment it won't match.

So should I book hotels in the name on my passport so they will have heard of me? And then will it cause problems trying to pay in a different name - though I seem to remember no-one in the US even glances at the cards or signatures.

I think as long as tickets and passport match, the rest doesn't really matter - you have to give an address you will be staying at on the form you fill in on the plane, but I doubt they check those with the hotel....

Last time I went a friend booked all the rooms in her name and we paid with individual credit cards no problem - as you say, they barely look at the cards there....

As long as your ticket is in the same name as your passport you should be allright.

Take along your marriage certificate just in case.

As long as your airline ticket and passport are matching this is okay.

US immigration demand that you tell them where you will be staying the first night but will not ask you for definitive proof of this.

However, you may run into some difficulty in some stores as some ask for picture id as well when you pay by credit card. Many store assistants just give credit cards a cursory once over; however, they may well ask you for some photo id especially if you are spending quite a large sum.

Due to this I would get your cards amended asap.

thanks for thing - thanks Atilla especially as hadn't thought of the picture ID thing while shopping. Tho due to enormous-ness of flight cost I'm not sure that I'll be spending lots anyway (Sob).

I rang passport office about similar things last Nov, was told as long as I took marriage certificate with me I'd be okay on the passport front.
