Holiday destination/accommodation ideas? For a family of 4.

Hi there!
As a wedding present to ourselves we are doing our first family holiday abroad, we have 2 DC aged 18 months and 5.
DP has only ever been abroad to one country (Jamaica, to see family) so hasn’t got any preference really, but ideally somewhere that he isn’t going to experience racism - his friends have had horror stories from Australia etc (not that our budget stretches that’s far) I am aware you get racism everywhere, but I hope you get what I am trying to say!

Other preferences:

  1. pool
  2. kids club
  3. activities around/outside of where we are staying
  4. a balcony!

I’d also like not to go to Portugal or Croatia as I have been there recently.

I have absolutely no idea how much is normal to pay for a holiday for a family of 4, but within a budget of £2000 so £500 pp would be ideal.

What time of year are you going and how long?

ZolaShepherd · 03/06/2018 13:05

Ideally around the 10 day mark but a week/two weeks is fine.

Hopefully this August/September. If not, next summer.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for that time of year with that budget

Following with interest to see if anyone comes up with a holiday abroad for 4 for 10 days for 2k. It seems a very low budget to me I'm afraid.

lifeisaboutcreatingyourself · 04/06/2018 05:57

You could look at Spain or Greece and hire a villa so you'll have a pool and can save on food as you can cook and prepare your own

ZolaShepherd · 04/06/2018 08:11

Yeah I have started to realise that 2k isn’t going to go very far at all.

We haven’t done a family holiday out of the UK before so didn’t realise quite how expensive it is, I can’t take the 5 year old out of school so not really sure of what’s best option.

Anyone know any good cheap Christmas destinations? I saw a few Christmas deals.

I found several options for your budget with Thomas Cook, but just for 7 nights.

Minorca, pretty much anywhere or Puerto pollensa in Majorca are both ideal for your family's ages.

You'll find a week within that budget towards the end of August. Look on holidayhypermarket and put your dates in, leaving destination blank.

Lots will come up, enjoy choosing!

Just seen above photo - perfect!

Try lastminute.com - I've just booked a week at the beginning of August in Majorca, all inclusive at a four star hotel with splash pool and a few water slides, in a family room (separate sleeping area for the DC) for £2300. An identical holiday was £4600 on Thomas Cook, and £3600 with Tui.

I started an online chat with the lastminute agent and he said if I booked through him he would offer a further £60 off! Meant I didn't have to fill all the forms in and saved money as well 😀

Sorry, discounted price was £2280... Bargain 😃😃😃
