Just returned from beautiful Rome! Have a look at City Wonders, I have used them previously for the Colosseum and Vatican skip the line tours. Also check out WithLocals, we did a great walking tour this time, highly recommended :)

That's great information, thanks. Will start investigating later.

You can prebook tickets and tours on coop-culture.it website.

Dark Rome's original crypts and catacombs tour was brilliant.

Agree with Idratherbe - we have used City Wonders also known as Dark Rome on two previous visits and have booked again for this year. Very professional, some lovely guides. One even walked with us after a very early trip to the Sistine Chapel to show us a lovely café near where she lived, where we could get breakfast and I remember a lovely American girl who took us to Ostia Antica. Looking forward to going again Smile

Oops sorry, and agree with Ricekrispie - we must have been typing at the same time Grin

On a side note, Rome in August is going to be criplplingly hot, so you might want to arrange walking tours for early morning or late evening.

Again thanks for all the suggestions. Will definitely book late afternoon. We are only there for 36hrs having coming off a cruise and will be flying home late afternoon the next day.

We used Dark Rome/ City Wonders for a semi-private Vatican/Sistine Chapel tour and were really happy with them.

Thank you all for the advice. We have just returned from Rome
The tour was great with city wonders. Incredibly hot but absolutely fab. Definitely want to go back
