Up to 5 night the week before Christmas-where would you go?

My DD turns 18 in December and I thought it would be nice to have a few days away to celebrate just the 2 of us.

Due to uni/work the week before Xmas would be the best time to go. Not sure if sunny or somewhere with nice Christmassy markets would be best. Dd is not overly fussed on destination.

Friends have suggested New York but we had a family holiday there last year or that would have been ideal.

Would love to hear your suggestions Smile

Budapest

River, architecture, lots of history, good food, shopping, thermal baths (excellent to visit when it’s cold!) cool ruin bars & amazing opera house. Best of all it’s really cheap so you can live it up.

Oh thanks, I hadn't considered Budapest, I'll definitely look into that, thank you!

We are going to Marrakech that week. Weather should be better than here and flight/jetlag is not bad.

I know your DD will be 18, but don't overlook Disneyland Paris or even Disneyworld Florida. I know many teens and young adults who still love it and it's magical in the run up to Christmas. There are many places to get cocktails and the famous Disney glowtini. The Dream Castle spa at Disneyland Paris is also highly recommended.

Amsterdam, that is where I am thinking of going then.

Went to Malaga City on 17 Dec last year, back 23rd. OMG it was great fun!

They really do a wonderful job on decorating everywhere with lights and all the rest of it. Weather was dry and a few degrees warmer than home. But the blue sky was so uplifting in mid Winter.

The shopping is great in Calle Larios, the tapas is to die for and the walks all along the seafront are just great.

Just a suggestion. Thinking of doing it again this year, it is just so easy, short flight etc. and the bus from the airport to the city only costs a couple of euro.

Brilliant suggestions thanks everyone! Smile

I like the idea of some winter sun but I think DD is more drawn to cold/Christmassy so we I may need to compromise Grin
