Bristol Activities

Hi everyone,

Will be visiting Bristol in half term. Would like advice on where to visit in the city for a family day out. Is there any historical sites the children would enjoy? I think they would prefer quite hands on activities.

Thanks in advance.

Bristol museum is historical, probably half a day at most but lots to do around that area like Cabot tower.

We the Curious on harbour side for hands on science stuff

Oh and a ferry ride along the harbour is always good. Plus the M Shed museum is also located there

Blaise Castle and National Trust Blaise Hamlets.
Suspension bridge and Giant's Cave/Observatory at Clifton.
Ashton Court Mansion.

The Down's.
Cabot Tower and park grounds.
SS Great Britain and harbour side walk.
Boat trip on The Matthew.
St Andrew's Park and pool.

Bristol Zoo/The Wild Place.

Also another vote for M Shed and We The Curious and Bristol Museum.

SS Great Britain always has some good holiday events on but it's a very hands-on museum whatever time of year you visit. It’s cleverly arranged to entertain and inform all ages. We had great fun exploring the decks, trying to spot rats, and squeezing through the cramped steerage section, filled with the sounds of babies crying and passengers chatting, sneezing and snoring. There's an activity trail, games to play, dressing up clothes to try on and older DC can have a go a climbing the rigging although you have to pay extra.

We the curious (used to be @ Bristol) is fab for kids.
Blaise castle is a good free option, they used to have toy museum there, not sure if they still do.
Ss Great Britain
Tyntsfield house is a huge national trust property near by, certainly worth a visit.

Head down to the harbour and there’s lots of options. We the Curious and the aquarium are right next door to each other, M Shed and SS Great Britain just short walk away.
