Hi
I'm thinking of booking a trip to Copenhagen for my boyfriends birthday.

I'd live recommendations of where to stay? And the "must do" things we should plan to do while we are there?

Must do:
Carlsberg brewery
Stroll along the Nyhaven
Do a canal boat tour which includes visiting The Little Mermaid. Canal Tours operate from Nyhavn or Gammel Strand. It is free with Copenhagen Card, but only with departure from Gammel Strand.
Walk to the top of The Round Tower - allow 30 minutes. It's not massively busy and it's free with the Copenhagen card.
Walk through Christiania Freetown. If you've got time, take a tour.
Tivoli - a great half day out even without kids, possibly better without kids!

If time:
Aquarium - it's a little way out of the city centre but absolutely stunning, both inside and out.
Torvehallerne Food Market - buy lunch here. If you don't like crowds or it's a sunny day, take your food early Botanic Gardens (free entry).
Christiansborg Palace

We stayed in a fab hotel, would definitely recommend, about 2 mins from Nyhavn, 5 from a metro stop, and on the waterside. Called Copenhagen Admiral.

If you like beer, go to the Mikeller Bar and to Warpigs in the meatpacking district. If you happen to be into Scandinavian tv crime drama check out Nordic Noir walking tours.

Went at Easter and absolutely loved it but food and drink so expensive. Highlight for us was the Segway around the city!

We did also did a boat tour, church of our savior - don't do if you're afraid of heights, experimentarium, design museum, rundetaarn, christiansborg palace, den bla planet aquarium and Tivoli - Tivoli food market is really good and free if you don't want to go into Tivoli itself.

Take a look at the Copenhagen card - all of the above (apart from Segway) were free entry with the card and transport is included. It was so easy to use - straight on metro, train and bus.
