Maldives with 2 year old

We are thinking of booking a holiday to the Maldives with our 2 year old DD. Plan to stop over somewhere like Dubai to break up the flight.
Just wanted advice/tips/hotel recommendations?
Don't want to have to get a sea plane (preferably really a shortish boat transfer would be best)
I have been over 8 years ago and can't remember what is it like for mosquitos? It's one of the things putting me off and I don't want to have to spray DD.
Anyone been to Maldives with their similar aged DC would you recommend or wait till she's abit older?

Also forgot to add. Happy to hear any other recommendations where you had a great holiday with your young DC.

If you are really set on the Maldives, then I'd look for one that has a good set up for children - creche, activities etc. Even if your DD is too young for that, it will indicate that the island is set up for children. Because a lot of them really aren't.
No need to worry too much about the bugs etc, most of the islands spray for mosquito's.

Are you sure you want to go there with a 2 year old?

I think it was one of the most ‘couply’ places I have ever travelled to.
