Hotel enroute from Dordogne to Calais?

We're going to Dordogne on holiday. On the way down we're staying for a few nights in the Loire valley. On the way back we need 1 night in a hotel somewhere enroute from Sarlat, in the Dordogne, to Calais. I don't really want one of the really basic chain hotels - would prefer to spend a bit more, stay somewhere nice with a pool maybe in a small town/city that we might enjoy going for a wander around.

Any suggestions please?

Cedre et Charme has an enclosed pool and is just a few miles from the A10 near Tours, so would hardly take you off your route. The owners are really welcoming, the rooms and bright and comfortable, and it's in the middle of a small town.

Thanks Ricekrispie, I'll check that place out

@snowgirl1

I've got no specific hotel recommendations but I recommend Amboise as a place to break your journey. It's absolutely gorgeous.

@maxthemartian thanks, I'll have a look at Amboise - haven't heard of it before.

We use the Logis de France website to identify places to stay, they are usually characterful places in town. The chimneys (1-3) are a guide to the quality of accommodation and the pots are a guide to the food quality.
You can filter on pools and search on maps.

We've broken the journey in Amboise a few times staying here, www.aubergedelaunay.com/mobile/index.html

There's no pool but a garden for kids to run around in, and a decent restaurant where you can sit outside, have a drink and a meal and relax, while the children play. It's motel style with most rooms looking on to the gardens.
