Does DP need travel insurance?

We are going on holiday soon to DP's home country (Italy) and I know he doesn't need an EHIC as he's still an Italian citizen, but should I get travel insurance for both of us or just me?

I think travel insurance covers cancelled/missed flights etc as well so may be worth doing for that reason alone?

If he was in itally and fell ill, would he ve entitled to access health services/doctors etc without paying?

You both need it. If he became ill and had to be flown home to the UK he would need insurance. For all it costs, never take the risk.
