varadero with a 19 month old

Hi all, anyone been to Cuba with a toddler? How was it? Is the food ok for them? Anyone take their little one to Havana? Any info would be great thanks.

I haven't, but have been to Cuba pre-kids, had an utterly fantastic time, and would love to take my children there.

However, I went to Havana and Trinidad, but not the coastal resorts, and I've heard less than encouraging things about the big resorts. I haven't been to Varadero, but a friend of mine had a very grim holiday there a while ago - there was a lot of sex tourism, she had gone with a female friend, and there were a lot of guys hanging around on the beach who assumed that they were basically there to meet local men. It wasn't that they felt threatened, just having to fend off unwelcome advances all the day was not the holiday they'd hoped for!

As I say, this was a while ago and things may have changed - but I would check it out very carefully if I were you.

We have just got back from cuba stayed at a resort in playa pesquero and had the most amazing time!!!!
My little boy was 18 months the first time and he's 21 months this time and both times loved it!!! With the food he was fine both times. If you want to ask anymore questions feel free to contact me on chelle334 @hotmail.com
