Newcastle Friday daytime - what can I do??

I'm going to Newcastle Friday and am getting collected by friends who live elsewhere. I'm thinking I might go early and have some time in Newcastle, but I've not been for over 20 years and no idea what I might do. It's time to myself which I'm looking forward to but could do with a bit of help with the planning.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Wander along the quayside. Visit the Baltic art gallery (lovely gift ship and a great view from the lifts even if you don’t like the art). Wander some more. Coffee and cake in peace. Sounds blissful!

Go down to the quayside, over the millennium bridge, have a mooch around the Baltic and then have coffee and cake in the cafe at the bottom?

Have a wander around the Grainger market, visit the Laing and Hatton galleries and also the Great North Museum (Hancock). Asking try Quilliam Bros for an amazing cup of tea!

Also not asking!

Oh they sound lovely ideas. I fancy all of the above. Thank you Smile

Is this within walking distance of the station?

Yes! Come out of the station and walk up the road with the statue of the man lying on his elbow with Starbucks on the corner, towards the big monument. At the monument turn right, past the theatre and follow the road round to the left and you’ll come out on the quayside by the Tyne bridge. Walk along, have a sit at the quayside seaside if the weather’s nice and the Baltic is on the opposite side to the millennium bridge (big white curvy one!)

Just before the monument the grainier market will be on your left! Go down the road opposite cath kidson, there’s an entrance there!

Brilliant. Thanks Pottering.
