Los Angeles to... San Francisco or Las Vegas

We're flying to LA in two weeks and want to go on to Yosemite or Yellowstone and then onto either San Francisco or Las Vegas

We haven't booked return flights and we're quite flexible about whether we fly from place to place or go by car/bus/train.

We have 12 days though so I was thinking 3/4 days on each place.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received

I’d go to SAN Francisco. But Vegas doesn’t interest me at all so I might be the wrong person to comment.

I have done LA with a road trip through Yosemite, stopped at San Francisco then to Santa Cruz. Had a fabulous time.

Done both - personally wouldn't do San Fran again (but Alcatraz is well worth a visit!).
I've done Vegas 3 times now and never drank or gambled there and still want to go back again :)

Last year we did Vegas to San Francisco, then LA, then back to Vegas.

I'd say it entirely depends on your personal taste. Given the choice I'd go to SF as that's more me and there's more variety of things to do there. LV was fun, we stayed in the Venetian which was an experience, and the Cirque show we saw was amazing, but once you've got over the weirdness of the place there's a limited amount of things to do that don't involve spending $$$$.

Yellowstone is a really long way from LA.

The pacific coast highway from LA to SF is a lovely trip.

Vegas is awesome too though.

San Francisco every time! Would love to go back. So much more interesting, although you can do the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas.

PCH is fabulous but double check as there are some parts of it which have been closed and it can be a looooong detour.

Yellowstone is in Wyoming and a long way away.

I would do SF every time. Great neighbourhoods and so much to see.

Las Vegas is a man-made fantasy -land. If you want to see fake everything, that's your place. Or has-been acts.

Las Vegas! It's such an amazing place and one that's hard to imagine unless you go. Something for everyone there as well.

We did San Francisco, Vegas, LA and Yosemite last year - the most amazing places. I love Vegas and would go back, we did Hoover Dam whilst we were there. Yosemite is at the opposite end of the spectrum and a truly beautiful place. We stayed in a fabulous house inside. San Francisco was also fabulous with Alcatraz, the bridge, the roads etc I'm glad we did it but I wouldn't feel the need to do it again.
