We are considering a holiday here next year, our children will be 7&5. I’ve been to sorrento lots of times but this part of Italy seems much cheaper but I’m wondering why this is!
It looks ideal as it’s on the coast and there’s a water park near by.
Has any one been? Really we want something that will cater to the kids but I want something that’s quiet and relaxing.

We went last year and loved it. It's definitely not as glam as some bits of Italy but it's pretty, sunny and cheap to eat out etc. We ate amazingly well

Very cheap flights direct to Bari

Matera

Local beaches

Very hot but beautiful. I think it's perfect for young DC as long as you can keep them cool in some water. Quiet, relaxing, interesting (Trulli) and wonderful food. I have nothing bad to say about it and you're actually making me look at Skyscanner for flights! Grin

Spent the best 3 days of my life at this place in puglia.

Lama di Luna .... Amazing food, views, place to stay..

We also used the agritourism website to book beautiful Masserias ... They are great for a family, have swimming pools, often cook for you at night, other families staying as well. Very relaxing.

We also stayed here for a bit (flew into Bari I think) and then drove here. The guy domenico and his wife where the most amazing hosts. he used to cook for all the guests out on his beautiful terrace, and we enjoyed evenings with many other families from all over Italy mostly.

Can I ask what areas people think are the most family friendly? We don’t drive so places that are walking distance to a beach would be best. Will look at the links, thanks everyone

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread as I'm flying to Brindisi for a week in July. The plan is to hire a car and stay in 2 or 3 different places.

We stayed in Gallipoli but it was so horrendously busy, I didn’t like it. Went to one beach nearby ish and I’ve never seen a beach so busy! So I’d choose dates carefully if you are venturing there. We also felt we should have hired a car to venture out and about. So bit of a fail on our part. All in all, not sure would go back. Or rather, if we did I would do more research

@iwantavuvezela thank you so much for linking to serragambetta - I stayed there with a friend years ago and have been trying to remember the name so I can go back and visit. I went to the website and there on the "about us" page was a photo of the owners with me and my friend - amazing!

sanitygirl you are welcome - it was a special place and planning on a revisit as some point.
